He had no choice but to do it.

It was lunch time and he headed to the canteen.

He saw Gui Gui and Wang Zi chatting happily as they walked together down the aisle of the canteen walkway to buy a drink.

Why should I do this, thought Ya Lun. For her, anyway. I couldn't possibly fall... in love with Gui Gui?

Ya Lun was about to abandon his plan when...

"Ooooh!" Gui Gui exclaimed as she saw her favourite candy - lollipops. "Auntie, how much does the lollipop cost?"

It was a round lollipop, flat in shape and rainbowed coloured. Ya Lun had loved lollipops ever since he was young. He remembered sucking his lollipops with his little sister...

*Flashback*

"Sister! MeiMei!" Ya Lun had exclaimed when he was three years old.

They were at a roadside stall that sold lollipops.

"Yes? Brother? KorKor?" Ya Lun's sister, Ya Jun asked?

"Look! Lollipops! It is your favourite!" Ya Lun shouted.

"I want! I want!" Ya Jun was stubborn. She stamped her foot in anger and pointed to the lollipops.

Ya Lun grinned and took his savings out, "Ten cents, thirty cents, forty cents! I am short of ten cents!" Ya Lun looked at Ya Jun apologetically. "Sorry MeiMei!"

Ya Jun bent down and cried. Ya Lun was fed up. "SORRY!" he shouted. "I don't have the money!"

Ya Lun turned his back on Ya Jun and looked away. Ya Jun cried louder at her brother's tone. Suddenly, Ya Jun's crying could not be heard anymore. Ya Lun thought that Ya Jun had took his advice to stop crying and turned around. "Don't be - "

"Ya Jun! MeiMei! MeiMei!" Ya lun wailed. "MeiMei! Where are you??"

That poor boy wailed. Ya Jun, his sister, was gone, forever. He had not been able to find her anymore since that day. His parents were disgraced and they got run over by car next day. Ya Lun had then been an orphan.

*Flashback ends*

"It costs 10.90." the plump stallholder said to Gui Gui.

Gui Gui furrowed her eyebrows, and then said, "Oh, then it is okay. Bye."

The woman said, "Can't evem afford 10.90 meh?"

Xiao Xun sniggered and laughed, "WOW. Poor girl. Do you need some loan? I have loads of them here! Just tell me how much you want!"

Ya Lun clenched his fists. Wang Zi raised his fists to punch Xiao Xun, but was stopped by Gui Gui. "Ignore her, Wang Zi."

"So what if I am poor? What is the problem of being poor? Have you never been a rubbish collector before? I am poor, so what? I still have a body and four limbs! Any difference?"

Ao Quan added, quietly. "Yes," They looked at him. "Gui Gui is more beautiful."

Gui Gui looked at Ao Quan and muttered., "Thanks."

For the first time, Xiao Xun seems to be at loss.

Ya Lun thought, "NO! Just do it! You have seen what she had done! Do you want more harm to be done to Gui Gui?"

Xiao Xun stammered, "W... Wha... What... Ever!" She turned and her ponytail swiped onto Gui Gui's face.

Gui Gui said, "Since your ponytail is so long until can smack people's face... Why not cut it Botak? I'm sure you will look prettier! Well, than that stallholder!"

The six brothers laughed, out loud. The ten sisters looked at Gui Gui with mean eyes.

"You'd better watch out, Wu Ying Jie! We know your past." Tong Tong warned her.

Gui Gui looked at her. No, she thought, she can't possibly know about it.

She shook her head furiously as Ya Lun took his first step towards Xiao Xun.
