Wang Zi grinned at Gui Gui as he climbed onto his horse's back. Gui Gui smiled back, her heart pumping furiously. Three days had passed, and Wang Zi had been practicing non-stop on the horse. Da Ya gave a squeeze on Gui Gui's shoulders, "Wang Zi will win."
"But... But what if he... Doesn't? What if he loses?" Gui Gui couldn't help wondering.
Da Ya thought for a moment, her index finger tapping her chin. "Hm... Well, it's okay." Seeing the sceptism that was on Gui Gui's face, she added, "Well, you see, there are three rounds, right? So.. Horse riding may not be Wang Zi's advantage, but, basketball? Motor racing?"
"I can teach!" Ao Quan sat down beside Da Ya.
"Well, I see your point... But..." Gui Gui was interrupted.
"HEY! Gui!" Jun Hou bounced onto the seat beside Gui Gui. "Who is going to be my bestman?"
"You meant Groomsman." Gui Gui corrected him swiftly.
Jun Hou smiled. "Same meaning."
Gui Gui bit her lip. "I'm not sure. But for the time being... Wang Zi."
Gui Gui tore her gaze away from Jun Hou and focused onto what Ya Lun was doing.
Ya Lun climbed gracefully onto his horse. Natelie patted the white horse. "Are you confident of winning?"
"Of course." Ya Lun said.
Natelie shook her head and muttered something unintelligent. Ya Lun thought he caught the word: Overconfident
Natelie walked over to Wang Zi, who was fumbling with the horse's reins. Natelie found the correct 'rope' and passed it to Wang Zi. "Are you confident?" Natelie asked.
"Er..." Wang Zi hesitated. "Of... Of course!" But his voice broke at the last word.
Ya Lun heard everything and smirked. He shifted his horse to the starting line.
The refree blew his whistle. "Let the match..."
Wang Zi's horse stumbled a little - Wang Zi pulled the muzzle's string, instead of the reins - as it strutted to the starting line.
"Of love!" Natelie grinned.
The refree blew his whistle again. "Begin!"
Wang Zi and Ya Lun slapped the end of the whips onto the horses' backsides and pulled the reins.
The horses started to gallop.
Wang Zi grinned as his horse was in the lead.
They were at the outside then.
Ya Lun pulled out the second rein, and slapped harder. The horse groaned in pain and started to gallop faster and faster. Seeing this, Wang Zi quickly urged his horse faster by whipping it harder. "GO!" He urged.
The horses were competing for their lives now - whipped, or die from whipping.
They were near the finshing line...
Wang Zi urged his horse again. "GO!!!"
And Wang Zi fell off the horse's back. Ya Lun's horse raced to the finishing line.
Gui Gui rushed forward. "WANG ZI!"
"I'm fine." Wang Zi stood up, brushing dirt off his jacket.
He glared at Ya Lun. Ya Lun sniggered slightly.
Gui Gui glared at Ya Lun's horse. One thing she knew for sure: Wang Zi had lost the first race, which means: Ya Lun had won a race.
